Job Overview:
The Education Specialist UN Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's education initiatives in the Amazon region, specifically in the states of Pará, Amapá, Tocantins, and Mato Grosso. This position involves programmatic implementation, monitoring, and documentation of education strategies aimed at increasing school enrollment and retention among vulnerable children and adolescents. The volunteer will work closely with state and municipal education authorities, local partners, and communities to strengthen intersectoral strategies that promote inclusive and equitable learning environments. The role also includes providing technical support for early childhood education initiatives, contributing to the development of educational materials, and conducting field visits to monitor program implementation. The volunteer will be expected to engage in advocacy efforts and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that educational rights are upheld for all children, particularly those from Indigenous and traditional communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including supporting the planning and implementation of education programs, monitoring and documenting progress, and collaborating with local education authorities. Specific responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF education programs in the Amazon region.
• Supporting state and municipal education authorities in identifying and enrolling children at risk of school dropout.
• Contributing to the development of inclusive learning environments through intersectoral coordination.
• Providing technical assistance for early childhood education initiatives.
• Conducting field visits and consultations with stakeholders to monitor program implementation.
• Supporting evidence generation and data analysis related to education indicators.
• Strengthening partnerships with government institutions and local organizations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams. Experience in education programming, particularly in vulnerable contexts, is essential. Knowledge of child protection and social inclusion strategies is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, innovative, and able to navigate complex environments while maintaining a focus on achieving impactful results. Familiarity with the socio-cultural dynamics of the Amazon region and experience working with Indigenous and traditional communities will be advantageous.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in education programming, preferably within the context of international development or humanitarian assistance. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in the Amazon region or similar settings, is highly valued. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and programs will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as the role involves extensive communication with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in English is also required for reporting and documentation purposes. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Amazon region, such as Indigenous languages, would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This is a UN Volunteer position, and the contract duration is typically for a year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
