Job Overview:
The HMA NTS/EORE Team Member plays a crucial role in implementing Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities within the DRC Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (HDP) Programme in Syria. This position involves identifying and assessing hazardous areas to facilitate the safe return of communities and the productive use of land. The team member will engage in community liaison efforts to maximize impact and ensure community participation in EORE sessions, which are designed for various age groups, including adults, adolescents, and children. The role requires coordination with other DRC sectors to ensure an integrated approach and the smooth execution of field activities. The team member will also contribute to the development of EORE materials, maintain accurate records of activities and data, and ensure compliance with quality standards and reporting requirements. The position demands a proactive approach to community engagement and a commitment to safety and quality in all activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the HMA NTS/EORE Team Member include conducting direct and online EORE sessions for different age groups, distributing informational materials, supporting EORE Training of Trainers (TOT) for local stakeholders, and assisting in the organization of workshops and public events. The team member will conduct community liaison activities, assist in developing EORE materials and methodologies, and support procurement efforts as needed. They will also contribute to lessons learned reports, participate in internal and external monitoring, and collect and report on EORE data accurately and timely. In terms of Non-Technical Survey, the team member will assist in identifying areas for NTS processes, implement NTS tasks in compliance with SOPs, collect data on hazards, and maintain communication with local authorities and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security stakeholders. The role requires adherence to safety SOPs and the ability to maintain equipment in good condition.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a certificate or accreditation of successful completion of an NTS/EORE training course from a recognized Mine Action Training Establishment or Organization. Candidates should possess knowledge of DRC internal MMC/BAC SOPs, familiarity with Mines and UXO encountered in Syria, and excellent skills in topography and map drawing. Basic handling of GPS, compass, and other relevant equipment is essential, along with an understanding of contamination issues in Syria. Good organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team, are also required. Desirable qualifications include at least one year of proven experience in NTS and/or community liaison.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have completed secondary or high school education. Additional experience in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) is considered desirable for this position.

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication and engagement with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. The position is classified at Level J, and the expected start date is to be confirmed.
