Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position is designed for individuals who are passionate about media, communications, and advocacy within the framework of the United Nations. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer of the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) and will play a crucial role in supporting the UNCG's broader mandate. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mobile video production, graphic design, and content strategy, contributing to the UN's communication objectives. The intern will be expected to produce engaging multimedia content that aligns with UN branding guidelines and effectively communicates development themes to diverse audiences. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include mobile video production and editing, graphic design, and content strategy administration. Specifically, the intern will film and edit short-form video content for social media and the UN website, ensuring adherence to UNCG editorial priorities and branding guidelines. They will assist in planning and executing video shoots at UN events and manage a library of raw footage and edited assets. In graphic design, the intern will create visually compelling social media graphics and infographics using Canva, adapting existing templates and developing new concepts to communicate complex themes. Additionally, the intern will draft copy for social media posts, track content performance metrics, and contribute creative ideas during UNCG working sessions. The intern will also be expected to deliver at least three edited videos and three graphic design assets per month, along with a monthly content tracker and an end-of-internship report documenting their outputs and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma and be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program in Communications, Media and Film Studies, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Social Sciences, or a closely related field. While professional work experience is not required, applicants should demonstrate academic or practical exposure to the relevant fields. Proficiency in filming and editing short-form video content, as well as graphic design using Canva, is essential. Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content best practices is also required.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma, with a preference for candidates who are currently enrolled in or have recently completed a degree program in relevant fields such as Communications, Media and Film Studies, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or Social Sciences. Proof of enrollment or completion must be attached to the application, and an official certificate may be required later in the process.
Experience:
While no professional work experience is necessary for this internship, candidates should have demonstrated academic or practical exposure to the fields of communications, media, or graphic design. This could include coursework, projects, or volunteer work that showcases relevant skills and knowledge in video production, graphic design, or social media management.
Languages:
