Job Overview:
The position of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health Policy Communication Expert is crucial for supporting WHO Bangladesh in its efforts to document and communicate the country's experiences and innovations in the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health. The expert will play a key role in synthesizing evidence and stakeholder perspectives into knowledge products such as case studies, policy briefs, and success stories. This role requires a strong focus on capturing implementation experiences, lessons learned, and scalable good practices, translating them into accessible, evidence-based products for policymakers, partners, donors, and the public. The expert will work closely with various WHO teams and government counterparts to ensure that the documentation is accurate, evidence-informed, and aligned with WHO standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National UN Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:

• Supporting the strategic documentation of NCD and mental health programmes by identifying and prioritizing policies, programmes, and interventions for documentation.
• Developing evidence-informed knowledge and communication products, such as case studies and policy briefs, tailored to specific audiences.
• Generating and synthesizing evidence through field visits, consultations, and structured interviews with stakeholders.
• Supporting quality assurance and knowledge management by coordinating technical reviews and maintaining an organized repository for evidence and products. The expert will also ensure that all documentation adheres to ethical standards and is disseminated appropriately within WHO.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear findings and policy messages. They should have experience in public health, particularly in the areas of NCDs and mental health, and be adept at engaging with various stakeholders, including government officials and health workers. The role requires proficiency in documentation and knowledge management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is essential for this position, typically requiring a degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in health communication, policy analysis, or knowledge management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in public health, with a focus on noncommunicable diseases and mental health. Experience in documentation, policy communication, and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable. Familiarity with WHO guidelines and standards would be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role involves extensive communication and documentation. Proficiency in Bengali is also highly desirable, given the local context and the need to engage with government counterparts and community stakeholders effectively.

The position is a full-time National UN Volunteer role based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
