Job Overview:
The Finance Officer position at WJCF is critical for supporting routine finance operations within the organization. This role involves interfacing with various members of the finance and operations team and acting as a focal point for compliance and internal financial management. The Finance Officer will be responsible for accounting, transaction processing, and monthly account closures, under the guidance of Finance Managers. Key responsibilities include managing medical reimbursement claims, insurance coverages, and ensuring timely renewal of insurance policies. The Finance Officer will also maintain relationships with bankers and insurers, facilitating necessary changes to bank mandates. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Officer will handle routine accounting tasks, transaction processing, and month-end processes under the guidance of the Deputy Finance Manager. Responsibilities include timely processing of staff travel and reimbursements, verification of vendor payments, and ensuring compliance with financial control procedures. The officer will support program teams with accurate financial information, assist in statutory and internal audits, and maintain liaison with bankers and insurers. Additional duties include booking expenses, reconciling with insurance companies, managing staff insurance additions and deletions, and ensuring timely renewal of insurance policies. The Finance Officer will also conduct orientation for new staff regarding insurance coverage and support staff with insurance-related claims, ensuring smooth processing and verification of documents. Furthermore, the officer will assist in the implementation of new accounting software and undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Deputy Finance Manager or Director of Finance and Administration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an M.Com, CA (Inter), MBA (Finance), or CA Inter from a reputed university or institute, along with 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience. Strong knowledge of financial software such as QuickBooks (optional) or Tally, as well as proficiency in MS Excel, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate experience in developing linked data spreadsheets/models and using advanced Excel features. A rigorous attention to detail, strong accounting knowledge, and analytical/problem-solving skills are crucial. The ability to coach both finance and non-finance staff on financial issues, including budgeting and internal controls, is also required. Fluency in spoken and written English, strong communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office tools are necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a postgraduate degree in Commerce (M.Com), an MBA with a specialization in Finance, or be a CA Inter from a recognized university or institute. This educational background is essential to ensure a strong foundation in financial principles and practices, which will be critical for the responsibilities of the Finance Officer role.

Experience:
Candidates should have 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience in finance and accounting roles. Experience in large, international development-sector organizations is preferred, as it provides insight into the complexities of financial management in such environments. Familiarity with NetSuite accounting software is an added advantage, as it enhances the candidate's ability to adapt to the organization's financial systems.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with team members, stakeholders, and external partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered a plus, but English proficiency is the primary requirement.
