Job Overview:
The Communications Associate - Brand and Design plays a crucial role in enhancing UNOPS' visibility and reputation through effective communication strategies. This position involves creating and editing a variety of content, including web stories, press releases, and social media posts, ensuring that all materials adhere to corporate style guidelines and partner requirements. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage content production effectively, contributing to the overall communication efforts of UNOPS. The associate will work closely with the Project Management Support Officer and other team members to develop communication products that effectively convey the organization's messages and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Associate - Brand and Design will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Familiarizing themselves with EU and UNOPS visibility requirements to ensure compliance in all graphic and visual communication products.
  • Designing communication materials for various projects, including illustrations, artworks, tables, charts, and other graphic elements for presentations and promotional materials.
  • Determining the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selecting appropriate styles and types.
  • Assisting in the development of infographics to present core messages and organize complex information visually.
  • Providing guidance on printing requirements and ensuring quality assurance for all communication materials.
  • Supporting colleagues in preparing for events by producing necessary communication materials.
  • Delivering final outputs for each communication product in agreed formats, whether web-ready or print-ready. Expected deliverables include Google Slide/PowerPoint presentations, project infographics, factsheets, posters, visuals for social media campaigns, and layout designs for project reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. A globally or nationally recognized professional certificate in communications, journalism, or digital and social media communications is desired but not mandatory. Relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, journalism, or related fields is essential. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in developing countries is preferred, along with familiarity with development or humanitarian contexts and grassroots-level audience engagement.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a secondary school diploma or equivalent with significant relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Candidates with a professional certificate in communications or related fields will have an advantage. This educational background ensures that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and design work.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in communications, public relations, media, or journalism. Experience working in multicultural environments or within UN organizations in developing countries is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have experience in developing and monitoring content for grassroots-level audiences, as well as proficiency in graphic design, video production, and content creation tools. This level of experience is crucial for effectively managing the communication needs of UNOPS and its projects.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Filipino is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English and Filipino are mandatory for effective communication within the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is a remote role with a contract duration of twelve months, allowing for a maximum of 200 working days. The position is classified at the Associate seniority level (ICS 06) and operates under an ICA - LICA - Support - Retainer contract type.
