Job Overview:
The consultancy roster aims to create a pool of potential consultants for future opportunities with Mercy Corps, specifically in the area of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI). The role is designed for experienced professionals who can conduct GESI analyses, develop strategies, and integrate gender-transformative approaches into programs. The consultants will work remotely, collaborating with Mercy Corps teams globally, and may need to travel as required. The overarching goal is to enhance the integration of gender equality and social inclusion into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, delivery, and measurement, ensuring that the diverse needs of program participants are met effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including conducting rapid GESI analyses using both secondary and primary data to inform proposal designs. They will contribute to proposal development by incorporating relevant GESI language and recommendations to meet donor expectations. The consultant will also design GESI-responsive logical frameworks and provide costing recommendations for GESI interventions. Additionally, they will conduct secondary data collection, prepare literature reviews, develop data collection tools, and train enumerators. The consultant will lead workshops with country teams to discuss findings and provide tailored recommendations. They will also design and deliver GESI training materials, prepare reports on training conducted, and draft GESI strategy documents, including women's economic empowerment strategies. Specific deliverables and timelines will be agreed upon at the start of each assignment, ensuring alignment with the needs of the program and the Technical Support Unit (TSU) team.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in international development, gender studies, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in programs focused on gender equality and social inclusion is required. Applicants should have a proven track record in conducting GESI analyses and assessments for donor-funded programs across various sectors. Experience in capacity strengthening for teams to ensure GESI integration within the program cycle is essential. Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills are necessary, along with a strong understanding of regional contexts where Mercy Corps operates, including Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas. Familiarity with GESI guidelines from various donors, such as FCDO, AFD, and the World Bank, is also important.
Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in international development, gender studies, or a related field is preferred for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical framework and practical skills required to effectively address issues of gender equality and social inclusion in various programmatic contexts.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience working in programs that emphasize gender equality and social inclusion. This experience should include successfully conducting GESI analyses and assessments for donor-funded programs, demonstrating the ability to apply GESI principles effectively in practice. Experience in capacity building and training is also crucial, as the consultant will be responsible for enhancing the understanding of GESI integration among program teams.
Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, working proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian is preferred, as these languages can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders across different regions.
