Job Overview: The Aerodrome Civil Engineering Expert position is crucial for the successful execution of the King Salman International Airport mega project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves providing technical assistance to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in evaluating and approving design reviews prepared by consultants, ensuring that all designs meet operational requirements. The expert will supervise the execution of foundation works for runway and terminal building structures, ensuring that construction adheres to planned schedules and contract agreements. Additionally, the expert will assess the current capacity and service-level conditions of airport facilities, including airside and landside operations. A significant aspect of this role is to develop and train national counterparts in project activities, ensuring knowledge transfer and capacity building within GACA. The expert will also be responsible for advising GACA on quality control, cost management, and contract administration, thereby playing a pivotal role in the overall success of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Aerodrome Civil Engineering Expert include:
Assisting GACA in evaluating and approving design reviews prepared by consultants, ensuring compliance with operational requirements.
Supervising the execution of foundation works for runway and terminal building structures, monitoring construction progress against planned schedules.
Assessing the current capacity and service-level conditions of airport facilities, including evaluating pavements conditions index (PCI), surface integrity index (SII), and riding comfort index (RCI).
Developing and training national counterparts in project activities, design review work, supervision, and contractor administration.
Advising GACA on quality control, time management, and cost control related to project elements, and assisting in contract administration.
Developing formats for regular reporting on project activities and controlling laboratory results.
Preparing reports that will serve as a basis for proposals for rehabilitation and future development of the airports.
Performing other related duties as assigned, which may include liaising with various stakeholders and ensuring compliance with ICAO standards and GACA regulations.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Aerodrome Civil Engineering Expert position include a university degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution or an equivalent qualification.
