Job Overview:
The Humanitarian Mine Action Team Leader is a pivotal role within DRC, primarily based in Aleppo, with potential deployments to other areas in Syria as needed. This position entails overseeing and supervising the activities of the assigned team, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Team Leader will be responsible for coordinating with local authorities and relevant stakeholders to facilitate safe operations while addressing any security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security concerns that may arise. The role requires a proactive approach to managing team dynamics, ensuring high standards of discipline and professional conduct, and fostering a collaborative environment. The Team Leader will also play a crucial role in capacity building, providing training and support to team members and contributing to the overall effectiveness of DRC's Humanitarian Mine Action operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and People Management: Plan and monitor team leave, attendance, welfare, and performance in accordance with DRC HR procedures. Provide administrative supervision, conduct performance reviews, and implement performance improvement plans or disciplinary processes in consultation with the Technical Field Manager (TFM). Ensure high standards of discipline, professional conduct, and teamwork within the assigned team.
• Operations Management and Safety: Monitor and supervise all activities of the assigned team, ensuring tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with SOPs. Coordinate and liaise with relevant local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations. Conduct planning, preparation, and reconnaissance of future task sites, ensuring the team has the necessary materials and equipment. Conduct regular Quality Management (QA and QC) to maintain operational standards. Report any non-conformities or breaches of SOPs to the TFM. Ensure team members perform regular equipment maintenance and conduct inventory audits. Coordinate team movements and ensure all safety permissions are valid. Supervise all EOD/MMC/BAC activities of the team.
• Coordination and Liaison: Maintain regular communication with Safety, Logistics, and other support departments to ensure operational requirements are met. Support engagement with national mine action authorities during task implementation and operational reporting.
• Learning and Capacity Strengthening: Deliver refresher training and on-the-job coaching to team members. Support training and mentoring of national staff and local partners.
• Other Duties: Undertake additional tasks assigned by management to support effective delivery of HMA operations.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum IMAS EOD Level 2 certification from a recognized international training establishment. A valid manual driving license (Category A) with the ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle in the field, adhering to safety guidelines. Strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Educational Background:
A minimum of a High School Diploma is required for this position. Additional qualifications related to mine action or humanitarian operations are advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing teams of six or more personnel is required. Experience in humanitarian mine action or related fields is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of operational management in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic (speaking, reading, and writing) is mandatory. Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing) is desirable and considered an asset for this position.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. This role is classified at the Management G level.
