Job Overview:
The Associate Budget Analyst position at WRI is designed for a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized individual who will support the operational and administrative activities of the organization. This role involves maintaining budgets for complex and multi-faceted grants, tracking expenditures, monitoring contracts and sub-agreements, and managing event logistics. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams, including accounting, HR, and program teams, to ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements while facilitating smooth operational processes. The position requires a strong focus on financial management, contract management, and administrative support, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of WRI's operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Budget Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Financial Management (30%): Updating and maintaining project budgets using budgeting and forecasting software (TM1), collaborating with the Operations Manager to ensure budget accuracy, coordinating with the accounting team, and ensuring compliance with grant and contract agreements.
  • Contracts Management (30%): Processing documentation for agreements, contracts, sub-grants, and purchase orders, monitoring performance against contract requirements, and providing guidance to partners on compliance with funder policies.
  • Conference, Event & Travel Support (20%): Coordinating logistics for domestic and international workshops, providing travel and visa support, and managing financial aspects of events.
  • Administration (20%): Scheduling team meetings, managing new hire information, coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes, and maintaining various organizational trackers. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting. They should have at least two years of relevant, full-time work experience, preferably in financial management, budgeting, administration, or nonprofit operations. The ideal candidate must demonstrate adaptability to rapidly changing priorities, strong attention to deadlines, and a process-oriented mindset. Excellent writing, database management, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and budgeting software.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding financial management principles and practices relevant to the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant, full-time work experience.
