Job Overview:
The Programme Management Assistant position is situated within the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Banjul, The Gambia. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Head of the RCO, contributing to the planning, coordination, and implementation of activities related to the Common Country Analysis (CCA) and other analytical products. This role involves extensive research, data analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN entities, government institutions, and development partners. The assistant will be responsible for compiling and presenting quantitative and qualitative information relevant to the CCA and supporting the overall coordination of RCO priorities. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying information gaps and assisting in the preparation of analytical inputs for decision-making and policy dialogue.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to: assisting in the planning and coordination of CCA-related activities; researching and compiling relevant data; preparing and maintaining evidence matrices and source libraries; supporting the drafting and formatting of analytical products and reports; collaborating with colleagues to prepare materials for decision-making; organizing documentation and knowledge-sharing initiatives; maintaining electronic and paper files; drafting correspondence related to coordination and knowledge management; and providing guidance on information management processes. The role also involves monitoring and tracking feedback from consultations and ensuring timely incorporation into draft products, as well as supporting the use of data and digital tools in RCO activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with additional certification or training in administration, finance, business administration, or project management being highly desirable. A strong understanding of programmatic and project administration processes is essential, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively. Professionalism, planning and organizing skills, client orientation, and teamwork are critical competencies for this role. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma is required for this position. Additional qualifications in administration, finance, or project management are highly desirable. Candidates with a first-level university degree may have reduced experience requirements, highlighting the importance of educational background in relation to the role.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in programmatic or project support, administrative roles, or related fields is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree may qualify with only two years of relevant experience. Experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable, as is familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Working experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is essential, along with skills in organizing activities and knowledge of budgeting and financial processes.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also recognized as a working language of the United Nations, and proficiency in French may be considered an asset for candidates applying for this role.
