Job Overview:
The Veterinary Paraprofessional Business Facilitator will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Animal Health Technicians (AHTs) as they establish sustainable primary animal healthcare businesses. This position is part of the Pandemic Fund Project, which aims to strengthen national health systems in South Africa through improved pandemic preparedness. The facilitator will engage with AHTs to monitor their business development, provide coaching, and deliver training programs. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project objectives. The facilitator will also be responsible for reporting on progress and challenges faced by AHTs, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to thrive in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Veterinary Paraprofessional Business Facilitator include providing dedicated technical support to AHTs, assisting them in navigating challenges in the field, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The facilitator will organize bi-weekly meetings with AHTs to monitor their business development and provide updates on mentorship and coaching. They will also support the development and review of business plans, assist in compiling work plans, and collect data on AHTs' business activities. Additionally, the facilitator will prepare monthly reports on AHTs' progress, participate in meetings with the FAO team, and present starter kit requirements to procurement committees. The role also involves mobilizing resources for AHT businesses and exposing them to funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Veterinary Science from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO. For those with a bachelor's degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience are required. For PSA positions, a university degree or technical degree/certificate in Veterinary Science is necessary. A minimum of three years of working experience in the animal health discipline is also required, along with a working knowledge of English. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills and proficiency in data analysis and project management software.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Veterinary Science from an accredited institution. Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have additional professional experience to qualify. Technical degrees or certificates in Veterinary Science are acceptable for PSA roles, emphasizing the importance of formal education in the field of animal health.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of working experience in the animal health discipline. Candidates should have experience running a veterinary practice and working with farmers in communal areas. Strong project management skills are essential, along with familiarity with computerized financial, travel, and human resources systems. Experience in data analysis and the use of project management software is also necessary to effectively support AHTs in their business development.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with local stakeholders and AHTs in the field.
