Job Overview:
The UNHCR Individual Contractor on Digital Planning and Strategy will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of Information Integrity projects, particularly the Switzerland Information Integrity Project and the Innovation Norway Information Integrity Project. This position involves developing and disseminating a Sector-Wide Information Integrity Toolkit, conducting training activities, and managing various tasks related to information management, analysis, donor reporting, and stakeholder engagement. The contractor will work closely with UNHCR teams at various levels and will be instrumental in strengthening relationships with operational partners and stakeholders. This role is essential in addressing the challenges posed by misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech, which can adversely affect forcibly displaced and stateless individuals. The contractor will contribute to the organization's digital protection strategy, which aims to mitigate the risks associated with digital channels while enhancing the protection of vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UNHCR Individual Contractor include project management tasks such as planning, organizing, and providing strategic support for HQ and field-based activities. The contractor will collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient and aligned work in accordance with the organization's broader strategy. Responsibilities also include supporting research and analysis efforts to inform evidence-based decision-making, providing expert guidance for pilot projects, and engaging in external outreach opportunities. The contractor will draft various communication materials, strengthen collaborations with humanitarian partners, and manage the development and maintenance of the UNHCR Information Integrity Response Toolkit. Additionally, the contractor will prepare funding proposals, donor reports, and support the implementation of the Global Refugee Forum multistakeholder pledge on Digital Protection. Monitoring and synthesizing media related to misinformation and disinformation will also be part of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of relevant work experience, including at least one year focused on developing and delivering capacities related to misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech for international organizations. A minimum of two years of experience in digital strategy, international relations, policy, research, and project management is required. Knowledge of trust and safety, online harms, and digital policy issues is essential, along with familiarity with UNHCR and humanitarian contexts. Strong drafting and editorial skills in English are mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages, particularly French and Spanish, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in international relations, social sciences, communications, or a related field. Advanced degrees may be preferred, depending on the specific requirements of the role and the organization.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of work experience relevant to the function, with specific emphasis on experience in developing and delivering misinformation and disinformation capacities. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing time-bound, multi-dimensional projects for international organizations and should be knowledgeable about the UN system and humanitarian contexts.

Languages:
