Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence Team Leader position is a critical role within NRC, based in the Western Region of Afghanistan, specifically in Herat Province. The Team Leader will be responsible for supervising a team of Protection from Violence (PfV) Officers and Assistants, ensuring that all PfV activities are implemented effectively and in accordance with NRC's standards and humanitarian principles. This role requires strong leadership skills, as the Team Leader will act as the primary focal point for field-level coordination, oversight, and technical guidance. The position emphasizes the importance of delivering timely, accountable, and inclusive PfV services to affected communities. The Team Leader will also manage the Community Resource Center (CRC) and address any challenges that arise in the implementation of PfV activities. The role involves regular field visits to monitor service quality, provide coaching to staff, and ensure that the needs of the community are met through effective communication and engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Protection from Violence Team Leader include leading and supervising the delivery of PfV project activities at the field level, ensuring compliance with NRC policies and standards. The Team Leader will provide day-to-day guidance and support to PfV Officers, Assistants, and Community-Based Workers, ensuring that they understand and apply the Protection Principles and NRC's commitments to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Regular progress reports will need to be prepared and submitted to the PfV Coordinator, along with maintaining strong document management practices to ensure data protection and confidentiality. The Team Leader will oversee the Protection Case Management process, ensuring that caseworkers adhere to national SOPs and NRC guidelines, and will coordinate with external agencies for effective referrals. Additionally, the Team Leader will facilitate communication with communities, ensuring that information about rights and services is disseminated effectively. They will also lead community engagement initiatives, support site management, and represent NRC in field-level meetings, ensuring strong local-level coordination among various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of three years of work experience with international NGOs, particularly in humanitarian contexts with a focus on Protection. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in leading teams in similar functional areas. Proficiency in local languages such as Dari and Pashto, along with fluency in written and spoken English, is mandatory. A strong understanding of financial systems and accounting principles, as well as experience in Protection Case Management and Community-Based Interventions, is essential. Candidates should also possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse community members.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the legal and economic frameworks that underpin the protection of vulnerable populations and the effective management of humanitarian projects.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant work experience, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience in leading teams and managing projects related to protection is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively in challenging environments and under pressure, while also being able to prioritize tasks and deliver results efficiently.

Languages:
Proficiency in local languages, specifically Dari and Pashto, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required to ensure effective communication with international stakeholders and reporting.

Additional Notes:
The position offers a monthly salary based on the NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale, along with medical coverage for staff and up to four dependents.
