Job Overview: The Staff Assistant (Business Continuity) position is situated within the ACT Office of Security, which is responsible for executing and coordinating security services across NATO's headquarters and its subordinate commands. The primary function of this role is to support the development and implementation of Business Continuity (BC) policies and plans. The incumbent will assist in ensuring that ACT can maintain essential operations during serious incidents or disasters and facilitate a swift recovery to normal operational states. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including NATO HQ, ACO, and other relevant entities, to ensure compliance with BC directives and guidelines. The Staff Assistant will also play a crucial role in training staff on BC responsibilities and supporting disaster recovery exercises, thereby contributing to the overall resilience of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Staff Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the Staff Officer (Business Continuity) in the development of ACT Business Continuity directives and guidelines; advising on the maintenance of HQ SACT Business Continuity directives; assisting in the development and implementation of local Business Continuity Plans for HQ SACT and subordinate entities; conducting risk assessments and Business Impact Analyses to identify critical functions and dependencies; ensuring compliance with the Alliance Business Continuity Plan; maintaining liaison with NATO HQ and other stakeholders; supporting the ACT BC Education and Awareness Program; training staff with specific BC responsibilities; identifying budget impacts related to ACT Recovery Strategies; participating in Business Continuity and disaster recovery exercises; and undertaking any additional tasks as directed by line management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess essential qualifications, including higher secondary education with intermediate vocational training in relevant fields such as business administration, engineering, economics, or public administration, along with 2 years of related experience. Alternatively, candidates with secondary education and advanced vocational training leading to professional qualifications must have 4 years of post-related experience. Additionally, candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in business or office administration, 1-3 years in Business Continuity Management and disaster recovery, and 1-2 years in writing and developing policy documentation. Experience in managing risk related to cybersecurity and/or CIS operations is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes higher secondary education and intermediate vocational training in disciplines such as business administration, engineering, economics, public administration, or operations research. Candidates with secondary education and advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification are also eligible, provided they have the requisite experience. A formal qualification in a related field is preferred, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to perform the duties associated with Business Continuity effectively.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in business or office administration, along with 1-3 years of experience specifically in Business Continuity Management and disaster recovery within a large organization. Additionally, candidates should have 1-2 years of experience in writing and developing policy documentation and managing risk in relation to cybersecurity and/or CIS operations. This level of experience is essential to ensure that the candidate can effectively support the organization's Business Continuity efforts and contribute to its overall resilience.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a required language skill level of SLP 3333, which encompasses listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Additionally, knowledge of French is desirable, with a skill level of 2211 in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance collaboration within the international environment of NATO and facilitate interactions with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The successful applicant will be required to apply for and obtain a NATO SECRET Security Clearance prior to the final confirmation of their contract and commencement of employment.
