Job Overview: The Digital Transformation Lead Consultant will play a crucial role in WFP’s Digital Business Transformation Plan (DBTP), focusing on enhancing the beneficiary and assistance-delivery ecosystem. This includes overseeing the registration process, managing the beneficiary registry, and improving digital assistance-delivery capabilities. The consultant will lead discovery and service design initiatives to capture the priorities and needs of Country Offices, ensuring that technology solutions are effectively deployed and continuously improved based on field feedback. The role requires a strategic approach to connect field realities with technology delivery, ensuring that solutions align with operational needs and are adopted in the field. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including Regional BTOs and business counterparts, to translate operational requirements into technology priorities and governance inputs, ultimately improving efficiency and coherence in WFP operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for facilitating discovery and business process analysis for registration, beneficiary registry, and assistance-delivery solutions. This includes engaging with WFP, partner, and government counterparts through consultations and workshops to validate needs and priorities. The consultant will document current-state processes and support the creation of future-state maps and service blueprints. They will turn discovery outputs into actionable artifacts, including research findings and process insights. Additionally, the consultant will serve as the focal point for business analysis and field insights, consolidating needs from Regional BTOs and translating them into structured inputs for support and development teams. The consultant will also support the rollout and adoption of next-generation DBTP solutions, providing tools and materials for readiness and change impacts. They will identify and escalate risks and blockers affecting beneficiary solutions and promote alignment with corporate systems and data governance requirements. Furthermore, the consultant will facilitate feedback loops across Country Offices and contribute to UN80-related activities within TECD’s mandate.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Service Design, Programme Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in business transformation, digital assistance services, or related fields, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience in supporting Country Offices with digital solutions, service design, and user research is essential. Strong analytical, coordination, and stakeholder management skills are also required, along with familiarity with data protection and privacy considerations.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Operations Management, Information Systems, or similar is required. A first university degree with additional relevant work experience may also be considered acceptable. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding business processes, technology solutions, and service design methodologies.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in business transformation, digital assistance services, or operational technology support. This experience should include working with Country Offices on the design, planning, and deployment of digital solutions, as well as contributing to service design and user research for complex digital initiatives. Familiarity with registration, beneficiary registry, and assistance delivery systems is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or Portuguese, which is one of WFP’s working languages, is considered desirable. Proficiency in multiple languages can enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse WFP environment.
Additional Notes: The position is a Consultant Level 2 role based in Nairobi, Kenya, with a contract duration of 6 months. The role is full-time and involves working closely with various stakeholders across WFP's operations.
