Job Overview:
The National Consultant for Nutrition Expert position is designed to provide specialized expertise in nutrition to support UNDP's initiatives in Bangladesh. The consultant will be responsible for assessing the current nutritional landscape, identifying gaps, and proposing actionable strategies to improve nutrition outcomes. This role requires a deep understanding of nutrition policies, programs, and interventions, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP teams to ensure that nutrition strategies are integrated into broader development plans and that they align with national and international health goals. The assignment is expected to span 54 working days over a period of three months, starting from mid-August to mid-November 2026, with deliverables linked to payment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting a comprehensive assessment of the nutritional status of the population in Bangladesh; analyzing existing nutrition policies and programs; identifying barriers to effective nutrition interventions; developing evidence-based recommendations for improving nutrition outcomes; collaborating with stakeholders to design and implement nutrition programs; providing technical assistance and capacity building to local partners; preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations; and participating in meetings and workshops to disseminate knowledge and foster collaboration among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in nutrition, public health, or a related field. A proven track record of working on nutrition-related projects, particularly in developing countries, is essential. The consultant should have excellent analytical skills, the ability to synthesize complex information, and experience in stakeholder engagement. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey findings and recommendations to diverse audiences. Familiarity with the UN system and experience working with international organizations will be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field is required. A PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant discipline will be an advantage. Additional certifications or training in nutrition-related areas will also be beneficial.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in nutrition or public health, with a focus on program design and implementation. Experience working in Bangladesh or similar contexts is highly desirable. The consultant should demonstrate a strong understanding of the nutritional challenges faced by vulnerable populations and have experience in developing and evaluating nutrition interventions.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages would be considered an advantage, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 54 working days over a period of three months. The consultant is expected to work on a full-time basis during this period. Compensation will be deliverable-linked, meaning that payments will be made upon the completion of agreed-upon deliverables.
