Job Overview:
The National Consultant for the Study on ‘Financial, Regulatory and Operational Pathways for Women-Led Climate Resilient Cooperatives in Bangladesh’ will be responsible for conducting a deep dive analysis of the financial, regulatory, and operational frameworks that affect women-led cooperatives in the context of climate resilience. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the socio-economic landscape in Bangladesh, particularly as it pertains to women's empowerment and climate change adaptation. The consultant will analyze existing policies, identify gaps, and propose actionable recommendations to enhance the operational pathways for these cooperatives. The role is crucial in supporting UNDP's mission to promote gender equality and sustainable development, particularly in the face of climate challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Economics, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline would be an asset. Additional certifications or training in cooperative management or gender studies would be beneficial.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in research, analysis, or consultancy related to financial systems, regulatory frameworks, and women's empowerment. Experience working with cooperatives or in the development sector in Bangladesh is highly desirable. Previous experience with UNDP or similar international organizations will be considered an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bengali is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the quality of the research.
Additional Notes:
The assignment is expected to last for 40 working days over a period of 3 months. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the consultant will be expected to work independently while coordinating with UNDP and other stakeholders. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's payment structure for individual contractors. The role may involve travel within Bangladesh to engage with cooperatives and stakeholders, depending on the requirements of the study.
