Job Overview:

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager and closely with the WYDE Women’s Leadership team in Brussels. The role involves supporting the coordination of activities with civil society organizations (CSOs), knowledge sharing, reporting, and advocacy efforts. The intern will contribute to the development of advocacy and communications materials, assist in organizing events, and help document and disseminate program results. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about UN Women’s mandate and the specific initiatives aimed at enhancing women's leadership and decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting various aspects of communications and advocacy for the WYDE activities, including the design and development of communication products, monitoring and amplifying partner communications, and drafting stories and articles. Additionally, the intern will maintain data related to funded civil society organizations, review reports to extract key results, and engage with funded organizations to document lessons learned. The intern will also assist in preparations for knowledge exchange events and carry out other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and WYDE team.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral. A strong interest in gender equality and women's rights issues is essential, along with analytical and reporting skills. Familiarity with social media management and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software is required. Understanding of the UN system and EU institutions is considered an asset. The intern should demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with peers and colleagues and have some knowledge of women’s and youth political participation.
Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level). Alternatively, candidates who have graduated within the last two years and are commencing the internship can apply. Enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that includes the internship as part of the requirements is also acceptable.
Experience:
The position is open to candidates who are either currently enrolled in relevant academic programs or have recently graduated. Previous experience in advocacy, communications, or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory. The focus is on candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the goals of UN Women and the WYDE initiative.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while working knowledge of another UN language is advantageous. This requirement ensures effective communication within the diverse international environment of UN Women.
