Job Overview:
The Communications and Events Internship at UNEP FI is designed to support the organization's mission of promoting sustainable finance and raising awareness among stakeholders. The intern will play a crucial role in assisting the Communications and Events teams, contributing to various projects that aim to enhance the visibility and impact of UNEP FI's initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse range of audiences and to be involved in the development and dissemination of communication materials that align with UNEP FI's goals. The intern will work on tasks that include writing and editing content, managing digital platforms, and coordinating events, all of which are integral to UNEP FI's efforts to transform the global financial system in line with sustainable development objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Communications and Events teams at UNEP FI. These duties include: assisting with the writing, editing, and design of communication content such as newsletters, social media posts, event announcements, and web content; managing the UNEP FI website by updating content and ensuring it remains current; monitoring web and social media analytics to present findings and actionable insights; creating proposals for social media campaigns and assisting with outreach efforts; coordinating day-to-day event logistics, particularly for UNEP FI Regional Roundtables; supporting communications for virtual events and webinars; and tracking media coverage related to UNEP FI and its initiatives. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Candidates should ideally have a background in international policy, communications, journalism, environmental studies, development studies, economics, or business administration, with some experience in communications through internships or extracurricular activities. While professional work experience is not required for UN internships, a relevant field of study is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program, in their final year of a bachelor's degree, or have completed a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or graduation will be required during the application process. The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus on communications and environmental issues, ensuring that candidates possess the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to UNEP FI's objectives.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates are expected to have some relevant experience through internships or extracurricular activities that demonstrate their ability to engage in communications-related tasks. This could include experience in writing, editing, social media management, or event coordination, which will be beneficial in fulfilling the responsibilities of the internship.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also essential, as it is another working language. Additionally, familiarity with another UN language is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders.
