Job Overview:
The position involves the design of two solar-powered waste-to-resource processing facilities in Gambia. The contractor will be responsible for creating a comprehensive design that incorporates sustainable practices and technologies to convert waste into valuable resources. Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Renewable Energy, Waste Management, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset.
Experience:
At least 5 years of professional experience in waste management, renewable energy systems, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully completing similar projects is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Gambia would be an advantage, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a full-time engagement for the duration of the project. The contract duration will be specified upon selection, and the contractor will be expected to work closely with UNDP throughout the project lifecycle. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The contractor may be required to travel within Gambia as part of the project.

- Develop detailed designs for two solar-powered waste-to-resource processing facilities, ensuring that they are efficient, sustainable, and tailored to local conditions.
- Collaborate with local authorities, community members, and other stakeholders to gather input and ensure that the designs are culturally and environmentally appropriate.
- Prepare technical specifications and documentation necessary for the construction and operation of the facilities.
- Provide recommendations for the integration of renewable energy technologies into the waste processing facilities.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards throughout the design process.
- Prepare and present progress reports to UNDP and other stakeholders, highlighting key milestones and any challenges encountered.
- Offer technical support and guidance during the implementation phase of the project, if required.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing waste management facilities, particularly those utilizing renewable energy sources.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices related to waste management and renewable energy.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and private sector partners.
