Educational Background:
Candidates for the Information Technology Assistant position should have a diploma or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding IT systems and support processes.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in IT support or a similar role. This experience should include hands-on work with IT systems, troubleshooting, and providing technical support to users. Familiarity with various IT tools and technologies is also essential to effectively perform the duties of the role.
Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is Arabic, as it is crucial for communication with staff and stakeholders in Syria. Basic English is also required, which will aid in understanding technical documentation and communicating with international colleagues.
Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. The level of the position is classified as Non-Management-I, and it is located in Damascus, Syria. The expected start date is as soon as possible. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Technology Assistant include:
- Providing first-line technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
- Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and standard business software.
- Supporting users with hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues, ensuring timely resolution through the IT ticketing system.
- Assisting in managing user accounts, email services, access permissions, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Supporting the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and internet connectivity.
- Configuring and maintaining network printers, scanners, and ID card printers.
- Maintaining accurate IT asset inventory, preparing equipment for new staff, and supporting onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Assisting in maintaining server rooms, UPS systems, CCTV, access control systems, and structured cabling.
- Coordinating with external vendors for maintenance, repairs, and warranty services. 1
- Following IT security policies, ensuring endpoint protection, and reporting security incidents or vulnerabilities. 1
- Preparing basic technical documentation, updating asset records, and performing other IT-related duties assigned by the supervisor. 1
- Supporting IT specialists in preparing monthly IT reports.
