Job Overview:
The position involves providing technical and methodological guidance for the design, supervised data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of information to establish a socio-behavioral baseline for the adaptive management and evaluation of the RENACE Project. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the baseline study is comprehensive and accurately reflects the socio-behavioral dynamics relevant to the project. This includes engaging with local communities, understanding their needs and behaviors, and ensuring that the data collected is representative and reliable. The consultant will also be expected to collaborate with various stakeholders, including government entities and local organizations, to facilitate the successful implementation of the project objectives. The role requires a strong understanding of social research methodologies and the ability to analyze complex data sets to inform project strategies.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, sociology, anthropology, economics, or statistics. Advanced degrees or specialized training in research methodologies or social analysis will be considered an advantage, as they demonstrate a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in socio-behavioral research.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in applied social research, project monitoring and evaluation, and data analysis. Candidates should have a proven track record of conducting research that informs project strategies and contributes to community development. Experience in rural settings, particularly in the Amazon region of Peru, is highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with the local context and challenges.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the work will involve direct engagement with local communities and stakeholders. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in the Ucayali region would be a significant advantage, facilitating better communication with local populations.
Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an Individual Contractor role, which means it is a contractual engagement rather than a permanent position. The consultant will work from home but will be required to travel to Ucayali for data collection and stakeholder engagement. The contract duration and specific terms will be outlined in the agreement, and the consultant will be expected to adhere to UNDP's policies and procedures throughout the engagement. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- Conduct supervised data collection in Ucayali, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Analyze data to identify key socio-behavioral trends and factors influencing community practices.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, methodologies, and recommendations for project implementation.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions with stakeholders to present findings and gather feedback.
- Ensure that the project aligns with UNDP's goals and objectives, and contributes to the overall mission of sustainable development.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to project teams in the interpretation and application of baseline data.
- Engage with local communities to foster trust and ensure their participation in the research process.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, sociology, anthropology, economics, statistics, or related disciplines.
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in the public and/or private sector in applied social research and/or design and implementation of studies, monitoring and evaluation of projects, and/or social data analysis.
- Proven experience in conducting applied social research, including knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) studies, baseline studies, and the design, implementation, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative surveys with statistical representativeness.
- Experience working with rural communities and/or participatory approaches and facilitation of dialogue processes is essential.
- Experience in rural areas of the Peruvian Amazon is highly valued.
- Familiarity with behavior change approaches, behavioral sciences, theory of change, or analysis of factors influencing the adoption of practices is an asset.
