Job Overview:
This position involves the monitoring and evaluation of selected project field activities under the auspices of UNDP in Turkey. The individual contractor will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness and impact of various projects, ensuring that they align with UNDP's strategic goals and objectives. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of project management and evaluation methodologies, as well as the ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights. The contractor will work closely with project teams to develop monitoring frameworks, collect and analyze data, and prepare evaluation reports that inform decision-making processes. This position is crucial for ensuring accountability and transparency in project implementation, as well as for enhancing the overall effectiveness of UNDP's interventions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks for selected projects.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data related to project activities.
  • Preparing comprehensive evaluation reports that summarize findings and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities are integrated into project planning and implementation.
  • Conducting field visits to assess project activities and gather firsthand information.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including beneficiaries, to gather feedback and insights on project effectiveness.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to project staff on monitoring and evaluation best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNDP's monitoring and evaluation policies and procedures.
  • Participating in capacity-building initiatives to enhance the monitoring and evaluation skills of project teams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in monitoring and evaluation, with a proven track record of successfully implementing evaluation frameworks in development projects. Familiarity with UNDP's operational policies and procedures is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to diverse audiences. Proficiency in data analysis software and tools is also required, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, development studies, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred and may be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles and methodologies, as well as experience in project management.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably within the context of international development projects. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is an advantage. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Turkish is also required, as the position involves working within Turkey. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.

This position is offered as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The position is full-time, and candidates may be required to travel within Turkey for field assessments.
