Job Overview: As an MSF surgeon, you will engage in a diverse range of surgical procedures, from performing caesarean sections in temporary health facilities for displaced populations to conducting complex surgeries on children suffering from severe conditions like Noma disease. Your role will involve preparing and executing surgical operations in accordance with established protocols and priorities, managing the operating room staff and resources effectively, and ensuring that the quality of care and hygiene standards are upheld in the operating room. You will also be responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care of patients, conducting both emergency and elective surgeries while adhering to MSF's protocols and quality standards. Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and perform surgical procedures according to established protocols and priorities.
Manage operating room staff and resources efficiently.
Monitor and ensure the quality of care and hygiene in the operating room.
Conduct pre-operative and post-operative follow-up for patients.
Perform emergency surgeries and, when necessary, elective surgeries.
Ensure compliance with MSF protocols and quality standards throughout the surgical process.
Work collaboratively with a multicultural team, providing supervision and training as needed.
Adapt to working in challenging environments with limited resources and diagnostic capabilities.

Required Qualifications:
Full and current medical registration (International medical graduates not registered in Canada must undergo a validation process).
A minimum of two years of recent post-residency surgical experience, with fellowships counting towards this requirement.
Experience in emergency surgical situations, including orthopedic, trauma, and obstetric surgeries (e.g., Cesarean sections, oophorectomies, dilation and curettage).
Proven ability to provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care.
At least six months of clinical experience within the last two years.
Experience in managing and training staff within a multicultural team setting.
Advanced-level fluency in English is mandatory.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a medical degree and be fully registered to practice medicine. Additional surgical training and specialization are highly desirable, particularly in emergency and trauma surgery. Continuous professional development and training in relevant surgical techniques are also beneficial.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of recent post-residency surgical experience, with a strong emphasis on emergency surgical situations. Candidates should have at least six months of clinical experience within the last two years, demonstrating their ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments. Experience in managing staff and working within multicultural teams is also essential.
Languages: Advanced-level fluency in English is mandatory for this position. French fluency is highly valued, and knowledge of additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing communication in diverse settings.
