Job Overview:
The Subregional Coordinator (SRC) for the Caribbean plays a crucial role in leading FAO's response to regional priorities in food security, agriculture, and rural development. This position is responsible for overseeing the implementation of FAO's strategic framework and ensuring that the organization's activities align with the needs of the subregion. The SRC will lead multidisciplinary technical teams, represent FAO in the host country and other nations within the subregion, and collaborate with various stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and international organizations. The role requires a strong focus on strategic planning, program development, and resource mobilization to address issues such as food insecurity and malnutrition. The SRC will also facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure effective communication of FAO's policies and initiatives to enhance the organization's visibility and impact in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Subregional Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:

• Leading the analysis and dialogue on subregional priorities and developing strategies that align with FAO's objectives.
• Advising internal partners to ensure subregional needs are reflected in corporate policies.
• Providing technical support for the implementation of the United Nations common planning frameworks and FAO programs.
• Mobilizing extrabudgetary resources to support FAO initiatives in the subregion.
• Supporting Member Nations in addressing food insecurity and malnutrition through collaboration with institutional partners.
• Coordinating the implementation of FAO programs and projects, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
• Monitoring and reporting on subregional programs to assess progress and identify challenges.
• Leading policy dialogues and facilitating access to FAO's knowledge resources.
• Managing human and financial resources effectively, ensuring adherence to security policies. 1
• Establishing partnerships with various stakeholders to advocate for FAO's policy positions and enhance collaboration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant technical area related to FAO's work. Additionally, a minimum of twelve years of relevant experience in program development and management is required, particularly at the international level. Candidates should demonstrate professional competence, proven leadership capabilities, and effective management skills. Extensive experience in partnerships with inter-governmental organizations, national governments, and civil society is essential. The ability to lead and work effectively with diverse teams in an international setting is also crucial.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a technical area related to the work of the Organization is mandatory. This educational background should provide a strong foundation in areas pertinent to food security, agriculture, and rural development, aligning with FAO's mission and objectives.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of twelve years of relevant experience in program development and management, particularly in fields related to FAO's mandate. This experience should include work at the international level, demonstrating the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and collaborate with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
A working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English is mandatory, along with intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another official FAO language, which may include Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. Proficiency in additional languages can enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse contexts of FAO's operations.
