Job Overview:
As a Physician with MSF, you will engage in clinical work while collaborating closely with locally hired health staff. Your role will encompass providing training, supervision, and coordination to enhance the capabilities of the local medical team. You will also be involved in supporting medical data collection and analysis, developing and implementing relevant medical protocols, and managing medical supplies effectively. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in diverse areas of medical practice, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, nutritional programs, and reproductive health. Data collection, analysis, and reporting are integral to your responsibilities, as you will forecast medical supply needs and manage stocks. While hands-on clinical work is a component of the role, the majority of your responsibilities will focus on supervision and administrative tasks, including planning medical programs, ordering medications, and reporting on medical activities. MSF is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in HIV and tuberculosis, as well as those with backgrounds in pediatrics, anesthesiology, surgery, emergency medicine, obstetrics-gynecology, and intensive care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct clinical assessments and provide medical care to patients in accordance with MSF protocols.
• Collaborate with local health staff to enhance their skills through training and supervision.
• Support the collection and analysis of medical data to inform program decisions.
• Develop and implement medical protocols relevant to the context of MSF operations.
• Manage medical supplies, including forecasting needs and ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of locally hired medical staff.
• Engage in planning and reporting on medical activities and outcomes.
• Participate in the development of medical programs addressing specific health issues such as infectious diseases and maternal health.
• Ensure compliance with MSF's principles and standards in all medical activities. 1
• Provide mentorship and support to junior medical staff and local health workers.

Required Qualifications:

• Full and current medical registration (International medical graduates not registered in Canada must complete a validation process).
• Most specialties can apply immediately after residency, including infectious disease, emergency medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology, and internal medicine.
• Family doctors and general practitioners must have a minimum of one year of relevant post-residency work experience.
• At least six months of clinical experience within the last two years.
• Experience in managing staff within a multicultural team, including supervision and training.
• Fluency in English and French (minimum level B2 in both).
• Relevant travel or work experience in contexts similar to MSF's operational environments, such as armed conflicts or public health emergencies.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a medical degree from a recognized institution and hold full registration to practice medicine. Additional qualifications in specialties such as infectious diseases, pediatrics, or emergency medicine are highly desirable. A diploma in tropical medicine is considered an asset, as it aligns with the health challenges faced in MSF's operational contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of six months of clinical experience within the last two years, with a preference for those who have experience in managing staff in a multicultural setting. Experience in humanitarian contexts, such as armed conflicts or public health emergencies, is highly valued. Family doctors and general practitioners are required to have at least one year of relevant post-residency work experience.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory, with a minimum level of B2 in both languages. Other languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese are considered valuable but are not required for the position.
