Job Overview: As a Health Promotion and Community Engagement Manager at MSF, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing community health awareness and access to medical services. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing community health needs, defining health promotion strategies, and supervising the implementation of outreach activities. You will work closely with local communities to educate them about health risks and practices, ensuring that the information provided is culturally sensitive and relevant. You will also oversee the recruitment, training, and evaluation of health promotion staff, ensuring that they are equipped to carry out their roles effectively and compassionately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess community health needs and define appropriate health promotion strategies.
Implement and supervise health promotion and community engagement activities in the project area.
Develop and adapt health promotion materials to ensure they are relevant and comprehensible.
Conduct outreach activities to bridge the gap between MSF services and targeted communities.
Organize community meetings to discuss health issues and promote best practices.
Recruit, train, and evaluate health promotion staff, providing ongoing support and development.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to enhance community engagement and health education.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion initiatives and adjust strategies as necessary.
Ensure that all activities respect the cultural practices of the communities served. 1
Report on health promotion activities and outcomes to MSF management.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sociology, social communications, anthropology, or public health.
Minimum of two years of work experience in health promotion in contexts similar to MSF's operations, such as armed conflicts, disasters, or public health emergencies.
Proven experience in health education and working with diverse communities.
Experience in managing and supervising staff in a multicultural team environment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt messages for different audiences.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as sociology, social communications, anthropology, or public health. A Master’s degree is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in health promotion, particularly in challenging environments such as armed conflicts or public health emergencies. Experience in managing a multicultural team and working with diverse communities is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory, with a minimum level of B2 in both languages. Additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese are considered valuable but are not required for the position.
Additional Notes: The position is expected to last between six to twelve months. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that may involve travel to various project sites.
