Job Overview:
As an anesthesiologist with Médecins Sans Frontières, you will play a crucial role in the surgical team by preparing and administering anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and supervising the operating room staff, ensuring that all anesthetic equipment is prepared and functioning correctly. You will also manage patient care before and after surgery, monitoring their recovery and addressing any complications that may arise. In addition to your clinical duties, you will be involved in data collection and analysis, contributing to the organization's efforts to improve surgical outcomes and patient safety. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and administer anesthesia for surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Coordinate and supervise the operating room staff, providing training and guidance as needed.
• Manage pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up for patients.
• Prepare and maintain anesthetic equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
• Participate in data collection and analysis related to surgical outcomes and anesthesia practices.
• Work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Adapt to working conditions that may lack advanced medical technology and resources.

Required Qualifications:

• Full and current registration as a medical practitioner.
• Completed residency in anesthesiology.
• Experience in pediatric, obstetric, and trauma anesthesia.
• Extensive experience in spinal anesthesia and dissociative anesthesia techniques.
• At least six months of clinical experience within the last two years.
• Ability to work effectively under basic conditions with minimal monitoring equipment.
• Experience in managing and training staff in a multicultural setting.
• Advanced-level fluency in English; French fluency is highly valued.
• Other languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese are considered assets.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed a residency program in anesthesiology and hold full medical registration. Additional certifications or training in pediatric, obstetric, or trauma anesthesia are advantageous. Continuous education and training in anesthesia practices are encouraged to maintain high standards of care.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of six months of clinical experience in anesthesiology within the last two years. Experience in challenging environments, such as conflict zones or areas with limited medical resources, is highly valued. Previous work with humanitarian organizations or in similar contexts will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with advanced proficiency required for effective communication in a clinical setting. French fluency is highly valued, and knowledge of additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, or Portuguese is considered beneficial for working in diverse environments.
