Job Overview:
The position involves monitoring soil and pesticide residues as part of a project aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and knowledge management in Ecuador. The contractor will be responsible for conducting field assessments, collecting soil samples, and analyzing pesticide residues to ensure compliance with environmental standards. This role requires a strong understanding of agricultural practices, environmental science, and data analysis. The contractor will also develop knowledge management products that will aid in disseminating findings and recommendations to stakeholders in the agricultural sector. The position is expected to last for 120 effective working days within a 210-day calendar period, emphasizing the importance of timely and accurate reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct field assessments to monitor soil health and pesticide residues in designated agricultural areas.
• Collect and analyze soil samples to determine the levels of pesticide contamination.
• Prepare detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for best practices in pesticide use and soil management.
• Collaborate with local agricultural stakeholders to disseminate findings and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
• Develop knowledge management products, such as guidelines and training materials, to support the project objectives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards throughout the monitoring process.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to the overall project strategy and implementation.
• Provide technical support and training to local farmers and agricultural workers on soil and pesticide management.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in environmental science, agronomy, or a related field.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in soil and pesticide residue analysis.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with agricultural practices and environmental regulations in Ecuador.
• Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, agronomy, agricultural engineering, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in environmental monitoring, agricultural practices, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in project management is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires communication with local stakeholders and reporting in Spanish. Proficiency in English is desirable but not required.
