As of December 2024, the IRC has initiated operations in Damascus to engage with newly accessible areas across Syria, including parts of Northeast Syria (NES), Northwest Syria (NWS), and other previously unreachable locations in South and Central Syria, ensuring that its operations maximize coverage and efficiency in response to the changing landscape.

Job Overview:
The Cleaner position at the IRC is essential for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene across IRC offices and guest houses. The role involves developing and adhering to cleaning routines that ensure all areas are well-maintained. The Cleaner will be responsible for various tasks including cleaning offices and guest houses, providing drinks to guests, managing waste disposal, and ensuring that all cleaning supplies are adequately stocked. This position is crucial for creating a welcoming and sanitary environment for both staff and visitors, thereby supporting the overall mission of the IRC in delivering effective humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Cleaner will undertake a variety of responsibilities including: cleaning the office and guest house during designated work periods; providing drinks to IRC guests; unpacking and cleaning garbage baskets in all rooms while ensuring desks are tidy; cleaning bathrooms and sinks; washing floors in rooms, corridors, kitchens, and bathrooms, and sterilizing them periodically; dusting surfaces as needed; informing the supervisor of any missing supplies before they run out; checking cleaning materials and submitting requests to the supervisor; securely locking or unlocking the building as necessary; changing bed covers and pillows in guest houses and washing them thoroughly; cleaning and arranging guest houses; isolating kitchens on a weekly basis in both the office and guest houses; cleaning balconies and windows daily; and performing any additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Cleaner position should possess good communication skills, demonstrate honesty and reliability, and exhibit speed and effectiveness in their work with a strong focus on details. The ability to follow instructions accurately is essential for this role. Educational Background:
The preferred educational background for this position is a secondary education certificate. This educational level is considered sufficient to equip candidates with the necessary skills to perform the cleaning duties effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least one year of progressively responsible professional experience, preferably within NGOs. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage cleaning tasks and maintain high standards of hygiene in a professional setting.

Languages:
Arabic is a mandatory requirement for this position. Proficiency in Arabic will enable effective communication within the IRC team and with guests, ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and in accordance with the organization's standards.

Additional Notes:
This position does not require travel and is focused on maintaining cleanliness within the IRC's facilities in Idlib. The role reports directly to the Admin Assistant and does not involve supervising other staff members.
