Job Overview:
The position involves conducting an analysis of the agronomic impact of a bio-input based on Trichoderma asperellum (T1). This bio-input is developed by the Centro de Investigaciones Biotecnológicas del Ecuador and is aimed at improving productive efficiency and reducing chemical inputs in banana plantations managed by the Tierra Fértil association. The contractor will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of this bio-input in enhancing agricultural productivity while minimizing the reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The analysis will require a thorough understanding of agronomic practices, data collection, and interpretation of results to provide actionable insights for the stakeholders involved. The contractor is expected to work effectively within a specified timeframe of 264 effective working days, spread over a total of 390 calendar days, ensuring that all deliverables are met in accordance with the project timeline.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the agronomic impact of the bio-input on banana plantations, focusing on productivity and input reduction.
• Collaborate with the Centro de Investigaciones Biotecnológicas del Ecuador to gather necessary data and insights regarding the bio-input.
• Design and implement field trials to assess the effectiveness of Trichoderma asperellum in real agricultural settings.
• Collect and analyze data related to crop yields, soil health, and chemical input usage before and after the application of the bio-input.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations based on the analysis.
• Present results to stakeholders, including the Tierra Fértil association and other relevant parties, to inform future agricultural practices.
• Ensure compliance with all UNDP procurement and reporting guidelines throughout the project duration.
• Maintain effective communication with all project partners and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in agronomy, particularly in the field of bio-inputs and sustainable agricultural practices.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Experience in conducting field trials and agronomic research, preferably in tropical agricultural systems.
• Familiarity with UNDP procurement processes and reporting requirements is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey findings to diverse audiences.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be considered an asset, particularly for candidates with a strong research background in bio-inputs or sustainable agriculture.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in agronomy or agricultural research, with a focus on the use of bio-inputs and sustainable farming practices. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs in similar roles will be highly regarded.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as all communications and reports will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in English is desirable, as it may be necessary for collaboration with international stakeholders and for accessing relevant research literature.
