Job Overview:
The position of UNESCO Consultant: Student/Young Professional in Laboratory Processing of Museum Collections is designed to engage young professionals in the critical work of cultural heritage preservation in Ukraine, particularly in the wake of the ongoing conflict that has severely impacted the country's cultural institutions. The consultant will be involved in hands-on conservation and restoration efforts at the Khortytsia National Reserve, which has faced significant challenges due to the destruction of cultural infrastructure. This role will provide participants with practical experience in collection management, conservation techniques, and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the field. The consultant will work closely with the Reserve's staff to support ongoing projects aimed at safeguarding cultural heritage, ensuring its long-term preservation, and maintaining accessibility for future generations. The position is part-time, requiring 16 hours per week over a 26-week period, totaling 832 hours of work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake various tasks related to the conservation and restoration of museum collections, including but not limited to:

• Direct participation in the stabilization and preliminary conservation of archaeological objects during hydroarchaeological investigations in the Dnipro River channel.
• Assisting in the conservation and stabilization of a medieval monoxyl boat and other ancient wooden artifacts.
• Gaining skills in the restoration of metal archaeological artifacts discovered during underwater archaeological research.
• Collaborating with the Restoration Department of the National Reserve to ensure proper preservation conditions for cultural heritage objects, particularly those related to watercraft.
• Submitting regular progress reports to UNESCO for approval, detailing the work completed and any challenges faced during the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in history, restoration, or a related field. Previous collaboration with the Khortytsia National Reserve is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the institution's operations and conservation needs. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with the Reserve's staff and other stakeholders involved in cultural heritage preservation efforts.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in history, restoration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for effective participation in conservation and restoration activities.

Experience:
Candidates should have some level of experience in the field of cultural heritage preservation, particularly in roles that involve hands-on work with museum collections or archaeological artifacts. Languages:
