Job Overview:
The Strategic Pricing Officer plays a crucial role at the intersection of Business Development and International Finance within Mercy Corps. This position is designed to enhance the organization's ability to secure funding while ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with donor requirements. The officer will work closely with the Strategic Pricing Senior Manager to develop competitive, cost-effective, and compliant proposal budgets. The Strategic Pricing Officer will collaborate with various teams, including Business Development, Regional Finance, and Program teams, to support proposal design and budget development, thereby building organizational capacity in cost proposal development and pricing practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Strategic Pricing Officer's duties include supporting the development of pricing strategies for funding opportunities, contributing to compliant and competitive cost proposals, and reviewing budget assumptions and calculations for accuracy. The officer will serve as a finance partner during the proposal development process, assisting teams with budget development and financial analysis. They will evaluate financial feasibility and commercial pricing options, support the development of proposal pricing approaches, and assist in maintaining proposal development tools and financial resources. Additionally, the officer will conduct financial analysis to support pricing decisions, assess financial and commercial risks, and gather market and donor information to inform pricing recommendations. They will also provide guidance to Country and Regional teams on budgeting and pricing processes and assist in delivering training on best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field. They should have 2-4 years of experience in budgeting, proposal finance, pricing, or a related field, preferably within an international non-governmental organization (INGO) or a complex operating environment. A strong understanding of donor funding mechanisms and competitive proposal development processes is desired, along with experience in developing and reviewing budgets and financial proposals. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding financial principles, budgeting processes, and economic analysis, which are critical for the role of Strategic Pricing Officer.

Experience:
The position requires 2-4 years of relevant experience in budgeting, proposal finance, pricing, or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments similar to that of an INGO, where they have developed skills in financial analysis, budget development, and proposal pricing. Experience in understanding donor funding mechanisms and competitive proposal development processes is highly valued.
