Job Overview:
The Programme Policy Officer, Climate Resilience role at WFP is pivotal in supporting the design, management, and delivery of climate resilience programming. This includes initiatives such as Food Assistance for Assets, capacity building, and natural resource management interventions. The position is integral to project management and technical guidance, ensuring effective and timely delivery of climate resilience programs. The officer will report to the Activity 7 Manager and will be responsible for coordinating various climate-focused initiatives across the Country Office, providing technical support to teams and partners, and fostering strategic partnerships. The role emphasizes the importance of integrating climate resilience concepts into various sectors, thereby enhancing the capacity of communities to adapt to climate change while addressing immediate nutrition" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food and nutrition needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Climate Resilience National Officer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:

• Providing project monitoring and implementation support for integrated resilience activities, conducting field visits, and reviewing project activities to ensure progress towards objectives.
• Designing and developing proposals within the climate resilience portfolio under the guidance of the Activity Manager and WFP SO3 Manager.
• Offering technical expertise in areas such as natural resources management, asset creation, regenerative agriculture, and livelihood development.
• Contributing to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on programs and activities to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Supporting coordination of the climate resilience portfolio across the country office and with cooperating and development partners.
• Representing WFP in public forums and maintaining relationships with government and other organizations involved in natural resource management.
• Ensuring that gender and nutrition perspectives are integrated into programming to empower diverse groups.
• Supporting capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and national government in climate resilience concepts.
• Producing internal and external operating procedures, knowledge products, and lessons learned documentation. 1
• Performing any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in climate studies, agriculture, environmental studies, natural resource management, international development, or related fields. A postgraduate degree is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have five or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in climate mitigation and adaptation, natural resources management, agriculture, or international development. Field experience in food security, sustainable development, and climate change programs is essential. Experience in implementing nutrition-sensitive, gender, youth, and inclusion programming is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, networking, communication, and negotiation skills, along with proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with WFP's processes and procedures.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as climate studies, agriculture, environmental studies, natural resource management, or international development. A postgraduate degree would be advantageous and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in areas related to climate mitigation and adaptation, natural resources management, agriculture, or international development. Field experience is particularly important, especially in contexts involving food security, sustainable development, and climate change adaptation programs. Candidates should also have experience in fostering relationships with governments and communities, as well as in designing and facilitating training for diverse audiences.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C in both languages. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the diverse environments in which WFP operates.
