Job Overview:
The FAO Value Chain and Private Sector Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the development of a comprehensive project aimed at enhancing the sustainable use and governance of fishery resources in the Inland Waters Fisheries Management Areas (FMAs). This position involves providing technical and operational support to the FAO project team, focusing on value chain analysis, private sector engagement, and project preparation activities. The Specialist will be responsible for compiling and organizing information related to market trends, investment opportunities, and strategic approaches to engage with the private sector. The role requires collaboration with national authorities and various stakeholders to ensure the project's success in improving livelihoods for small-scale fishers and enhancing food security.

Candidates should possess at least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in areas related to fisheries value chain development, agribusiness, private sector engagement, market development, or SME development. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the dynamics of the fisheries sector and for effectively contributing to the project's objectives.
Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are English and Bahasa Indonesia, with a working knowledge (Level C) required in both languages. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including local communities, government institutions, and international experts.

This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. The role is expected to be full-time, and candidates should be prepared to engage with various stakeholders across different regions. - Supporting the compilation, organization, and documentation of information on value chain conditions and trends, including costs, prices, market preferences, standards, and requirements.
- Analyzing value chain conditions and trends to provide insights into market dynamics.
- Documenting and organizing information on key value chain actors necessary for influencing value chains for global environmental benefits.
- Providing input on investment opportunities and existing initiatives that support SMEs, leading to improved livelihoods for small-scale fisheries.
- Reviewing and compiling market trends and positioning strategies for newly developed inland fisheries products, including aspects of digitalization and certification.
- Identifying strategic approaches for engaging with the private sector to enhance project outcomes.
- Identifying potential SMEs that can champion value-added business development in inland fisheries.
- Supporting the preparation and consolidation of draft project documents, including the Private Sector Engagement Plan.
- Compiling and organizing technical inputs and supporting documentation for project activities. 1
- Organizing project files, consultation records, meeting materials, and other documentation related to project preparation. 1
- Performing other related technical and operational support tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- An advanced university degree in processing and marketing for aquaculture/fisheries products or a relevant/related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in fisheries value chain development, agribusiness, private sector engagement, market development, or SME development.
- A working knowledge (Level C) of English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Candidates must be nationals of Indonesia or residents of the country with a valid work permit.
