The Desk Manager position at Save the Children in Mauritania is crucial for ensuring the effective operation of the mission/office. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Desk Manager will be tasked with ensuring the technical management of interventions promoted by Save the Children in accordance with established procedures and systems. Key responsibilities include:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in similar positions, demonstrating a strong background in project and team management within the Sahel region. A university degree and postgraduate qualifications are required, along with advanced proficiency in French and English. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset. Candidates will be screened based on their years of experience, educational qualifications, and language proficiency.
Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in a relevant field, complemented by postgraduate qualifications that enhance the candidate's ability to manage projects and teams effectively. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of international cooperation and the specific challenges faced in the Sahel region.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in similar roles is mandatory. This experience should include managing projects and teams, particularly in challenging environments like the Sahel, where security and operational dynamics can be complex and fluid. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of successful project implementation and team leadership.
Languages:
Proficiency in French and English is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for communication within the organization and with external partners. - Ensuring synergy with all internal actors (Cooperation, other departments, SCI, and other SC members) and external stakeholders involved in the mission.
- Monitoring, reconciling, and integrating technical data sent by the Mauritania Office in the field.
- Ensuring compliance with donor regulations and timely reporting, justification, and requirements for executed interventions.
- Preparing periodic reports on the overall technical situation of international cooperation operations.
- Coordinating and communicating development cooperation actions with field offices, SCI, and other member countries.
- Performing any other functions related to the professional category as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
