Job Overview:
The position involves conducting a Banking Services Survey for the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Ethiopia. The survey aims to gather comprehensive data on banking services available in the region, which will be crucial for understanding the financial landscape and improving service delivery. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, analyze existing banking services, and provide recommendations based on the findings. This role requires a deep understanding of the banking sector, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups. The assignment is expected to last for a period of 30 working days, approximately one and a half months, during which the consultant will be responsible for the entire survey process from planning to execution and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

• Design the survey methodology and tools to effectively gather data on banking services.
• Identify and engage with key stakeholders in the banking sector, including banks, financial institutions, and customers.
• Conduct interviews, focus groups, and surveys to collect qualitative and quantitative data.
• Analyze the data collected to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities in banking services.
• Prepare a comprehensive report detailing the findings of the survey, including recommendations for improvements.
• Present the findings to the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and other relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that all data collection and analysis adhere to ethical standards and best practices.
• Provide ongoing support and clarification during the implementation of recommendations based on the survey results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Proven experience in conducting surveys or research in the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
• Familiarity with the banking landscape in Ethiopia or similar contexts is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using statistical software and data analysis tools is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred. Additional certifications in research methodologies or data analysis would be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in conducting surveys, research, or analysis within the banking or financial services sector. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is a plus, as is familiarity with the UN system and its procurement processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Ethiopia, such as Amharic, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a full-time engagement for the duration of the assignment. The contract will last for 30 working days, and the consultant is expected to work on-site in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Compensation will be based on the consultant's qualifications and experience, and all proposals must be submitted through the UNDP Quantum supplier portal by the specified deadline. It is important to note that financial proposals must be submitted separately in the designated section of the portal to avoid disqualification.
