Job Overview: The Digital Outreach Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the communication activities of the IAP and TWAS. This position involves working under the supervision of the Public Information Officer and collaborating closely with program staff to enhance the visibility and dissemination of key outputs, including statements, reports, and communication around various programs and networks. The incumbent will be responsible for managing social media channels, producing multimedia content, and maintaining websites, ensuring that all communications align with the strategic priorities of the organizations. The role also includes supporting donor-funded activities and contributing to the overall communications function within the TWAS Public Information Unit, thereby enhancing the impact of IAP programs and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Digital Outreach Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: drafting, editing, and adapting short-form texts for digital platforms such as social media, newsletters, and announcements; managing the daily operations of social media channels and monitoring their performance; preparing and disseminating communication outputs for IAP meetings, workshops, and events; handling the technical and graphic production of newsletters, ensuring high-quality layout and visual presentation; producing visual content, including basic video editing and graphic design, in accordance with established guidelines; supporting web and digital platforms by assisting with website updates and liaising with technical service providers; maintaining digital assets and contact databases, organizing photo and video archives, and providing performance analytics to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed secondary, technical, or vocational school education. Additionally, they should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in public information, communications production, or website management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent skills in writing, editing, and content production tailored for online audiences, as well as proficiency in MS Office applications. Experience with graphic design software, HTML, Content Management Systems, and Google Analytics is also required. Strong planning and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to innovate and take initiative are essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to have completed secondary education, with a preference for those who have pursued technical or vocational training relevant to public information and communications. Higher education qualifications may be advantageous but are not explicitly required for this role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least five years of relevant work experience in fields related to public information, communications production, or website management. Experience in implementing social media strategies and campaigns is particularly valuable, as is familiarity with working in international or multicultural settings.
