Job Overview:
The UNICEF Community Digitalization Coordinator will play a crucial role in implementing the Community-Based Digital Transformation (CBDx) model in Sierra Leone. This model serves as a cross-sectoral delivery platform aimed at expanding equitable access to digital learning, life skills, and economic opportunities for adolescents and young people. The coordinator will support the operationalization, integration, quality assurance, and performance monitoring of the CBDx model, which encompasses various components such as Digital Learning Hubs, EduCubes, and community youth groups. The position requires collaboration across different UNICEF sections and with government and implementation partners, with regular travel to CBDx locations expected. The coordinator will be responsible for translating strategic priorities into practical operational models and ensuring coherence across the seven components of the CBDx framework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a strong commitment to UNICEF's mission and values. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and community engagement strategies is essential. Candidates should also have a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new challenges.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, preferably in the context of education or youth engagement. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with digital transformation initiatives.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNICEF. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Sierra Leone would be an asset and is considered a good-to-have qualification.

This position is a full-time role based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The contract duration is typically for a specified period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. - Support CBDx Systems Operationalization and Integration: Implement and refine the CBDx systems model, ensuring coherence across its components. Translate strategic priorities into operational models, SOPs, and quality-assurance tools. Facilitate coordination with relevant UNICEF teams and align with government priorities.
- Support Delivery-Platform Standards and Performance Monitoring: Operationalize delivery modalities, contribute to infrastructure specifications, and monitor platform utilization and performance data. Identify gaps and coordinate with government counterparts and partners on platform functionality and quality improvement.
- Strengthen the Content Ecosystem and Learning Pathways: Support the creation and localization of thematic learning pathways, ensuring cultural relevance and integration with Learning Passport systems. Contribute to content-conversion workflows while maintaining quality standards.
- Strengthen the Digital Champions and Youth-Engagement Systems: Design and scale the Digital Champions model, providing guidance for implementation partners. Support the establishment of youth clubs linked to CBDx hubs and promote meaningful youth participation.
- Contribute to Sustainability, Learning and Scale-Up: Support cost-optimization approaches and document learning for exchange with government and partners. Develop a CBDx performance framework and prepare regular progress reports.
- Support Capacity Development and Knowledge Transfer: Share technical knowledge with UNICEF colleagues and partners through guidance and mentoring. Document good practices for local partners and future volunteers.
