Job Overview:
The Communication & Media Coordinator is tasked with the strategic coordination and implementation of communication and public engagement efforts in Chad. This role is pivotal in enhancing IRC's reputation and influence within the country by fostering trust with key audiences to maximize the organization's impact. The coordinator will oversee national-level communication activities and ensure the production of materials that effectively showcase IRC's contributions in Chad. Additionally, the position involves managing emergency communications and positioning IRC as a leading humanitarian actor nationally. The coordinator will work closely with various teams to produce high-quality content that highlights IRC's activities and results, ensuring that all communication efforts align with IRC's branding standards and donor requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Communication & Media Coordinator include developing, reviewing, and implementing IRC Chad's communication strategy; coordinating the production of communication materials such as brochures, factsheets, posters, newsletters, and annual reports in collaboration with Deputy Directors for Programs, Operations, and Finance; producing and disseminating content that highlights IRC Chad's activities; supporting project teams in creating high-quality communication content; ensuring regular updates of digital platforms; managing social media to promote program activities; coordinating the production of monthly SITREPs on emergency activities; managing media relations at the national level; strengthening staff capacity in visibility and communication; ensuring compliance of communication products with donor requirements; developing innovative approaches to showcase IRC Chad's interventions; maintaining coordination with headquarters communication teams; participating in national advocacy meetings; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in communication, marketing, public relations, journalism, social sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably with international NGOs, is required. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational and prioritization skills, experience in communication and media relations, and event organization. Excellent writing skills in both French and English are essential, along with a proven ability to develop storytelling content that highlights program results and community experiences. Proficiency in MS Office and desirable design skills, as well as photography and video skills, are also important. A commitment to Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) principles and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are crucial.

Educational Background:
A university degree in communication, marketing, public relations, journalism, social sciences, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage communication strategies and media relations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within international NGOs. This experience should encompass a strong background in communication, media relations, and event organization, which are critical for the successful execution of the responsibilities associated with this role.

Languages:
The candidate must have an excellent command of both French and English, both spoken and written. This bilingual proficiency is mandatory to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and to produce high-quality communication materials in both languages.
