Job Overview:

Reporting directly to a CERN Project Manager, your primary responsibilities will include coordinating site activities, managing interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that all project execution aligns with technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and safety objectives. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the construction process. You will also be involved in the design, coordination, and procurement phases of new projects, working closely with project managers and consultants to ensure successful project outcomes. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Construction Project Engineer include supervising the execution of construction works, ensuring compliance with contractual drawings and specifications, and liaising with external consultants such as architects and engineers. You will be responsible for implementing and adhering to safety measures on worksites, identifying potential issues, and managing the remediation of defects. Additionally, you will participate in testing, commissioning, and taking-over activities to ensure a seamless transition of completed works. Coordination of on-site interfaces between contractors and CERN specialized services is essential, as is organizing the worksite according to the construction schedule. You will monitor the progress, quality, and budget of the works in collaboration with the project manager, ensuring that all project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a professional background in Civil Engineering or a related field. Eligibility criteria include being a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and having either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. It is also required that candidates have never held a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including MS Project, and familiarity with construction project management tools and methodologies are essential. Strong skills in quality control, report writing, and procedural documentation are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or a PhD in the same area. Candidates should have completed their degree within the specified timeframe to meet the eligibility criteria for the position. A solid foundation in civil engineering principles, design, and construction practices is essential for success in this role.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the Construction Project Engineer position includes a minimum of 2 years and up to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience for candidates with a Master's degree. For those with a PhD, no more than 3 years of relevant experience is required. Experience in civil engineering design or construction works on-site, as well as experience in project coordination, is highly valued.
