Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Transaction Processing Officer include executing end-to-end processing of lending portfolio transactions, ensuring timely confirmations, settlements, and lifecycle event management. The officer will perform controls to mitigate operational, financial, and reputational risks and contribute to the continuous improvement of control frameworks, especially in automated environments. Additionally, the officer will analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, applying analytical techniques to support decision-making. The role also involves developing and maintaining dashboards and reports to monitor performance and operational risk, increasing straight-through processing (STP) and reducing manual intervention through data-driven insights. The officer will contribute to automation initiatives, explore data-driven and AI solutions, and validate outputs of automated systems from a business and risk perspective. Furthermore, the officer will translate operational needs into structured business requirements, support process mapping and documentation, and strengthen control frameworks in automated processes. Collaboration with various teams on operational and transformation topics is also a key responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, preferably in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Additional postgraduate studies or professional qualifications are advantageous. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, ideally within the Middle or Back Office of a financial institution, along with a solid understanding of financial products and loan documentation. Candidates should demonstrate a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work with operational and financial datasets. Exposure to automation tools, workflow engines, and process optimization techniques is essential. Familiarity with AI or data science use cases, such as anomaly detection and predictive analytics, is also beneficial. Hands-on experience with data analysis or programming tools like Python, SQL, or data visualization tools like Power BI is an advantage. Knowledge of project management is considered a plus.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in fields such as Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or Data Science. Additional relevant postgraduate studies or professional qualifications would be viewed favorably, enhancing the candidate's profile for this role.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally gained in the Middle or Back Office of a financial institution or in a similar environment. Candidates should have a good understanding of financial products and loan documentation, as well as experience in handling operational and financial datasets.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential, and a good command of French is also required. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage, as the EIB operates in a multilingual environment.
