Job Overview:
The position of Research and Project Support Consultant is integral to the UNDP SDG Local Action team. The consultant will be responsible for supporting various research initiatives, editorial production, and knowledge management tasks. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality and outreach of the initiative’s communications outputs. The consultant will engage in activities that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the UNDP's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives, ensuring that the research findings and project outputs are well-documented and disseminated effectively. The consultant will also be expected to collaborate with team members and stakeholders to align the research outputs with the strategic objectives of the UNDP.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake a variety of duties including but not limited to: conducting thorough research on topics relevant to the SDG Local Action initiatives; assisting in the preparation and editing of reports, briefs, and other communication materials; managing knowledge resources and ensuring that information is organized and accessible; collaborating with team members to develop project proposals and presentations; providing support in organizing workshops, meetings, and events related to the SDG initiatives; and contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of project activities. The consultant will also be expected to maintain effective communication with stakeholders and provide updates on project progress.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical and research skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise outputs. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, as well as proficiency in knowledge management practices. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of sustainable development issues and the UNDP's mission. Familiarity with project management principles and experience in working with international organizations will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, public policy, or a related discipline is required. A master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a solid academic background that supports their understanding of sustainable development and project management.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in research, project support, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of sustainable development, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing research projects and producing high-quality written outputs.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where UNDP operates, will be considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
