Job Overview:
The position involves recruiting a national consultant for the development of a project document for the second phase of the 'LOCAL SALT PROMOTION PROJECT XWLAJE IN THE COASTAL ZONE OF BENIN'. The consultant will be responsible for creating a comprehensive project document that outlines the objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes of the project. This role requires a deep understanding of local contexts, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to articulate project goals clearly. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and local stakeholders to ensure that the project aligns with national development priorities and effectively addresses the needs of the community. The duration of the mission is set for 20 calendar days, during which the consultant will conduct necessary research, engage with stakeholders, and draft the project document.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in project development and management, particularly in the context of local development initiatives. A proven track record of working with community-based projects and familiarity with the local salt production sector is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality documentation. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders are also required. Knowledge of UNDP processes and procedures will be considered an asset.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as development studies, environmental science, economics, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree would be an advantage, particularly for candidates with a focus on sustainable development or project management.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in project development, particularly in the context of community development or environmental projects. Experience working with international organizations, especially in the UN system, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the local context in Benin and previous work on similar projects will be beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Benin. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to engage with UNDP's global network.
Additional Notes:
This position is for a short-term consultancy with a contract duration of 20 days. The consultant is expected to work full-time during this period. The recruitment is open to national candidates only, and the compensation will be commensurate with the consultant's experience and qualifications.
