Job Overview:
The position of Asociado/a de Programas en Medios de vida is crucial for coordinating programmatic and operational aspects related to projects aimed at building resilience and strengthening the livelihoods of vulnerable populations affected by climate variability and change. The role involves working under the supervision of the Program Officer in the Riohacha Area Office and is focused on ensuring that the programs align with WFP's strategic objectives and national cooperation frameworks. The incumbent will be responsible for providing specialized technical guidance for the design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood projects, ensuring that they contribute to food security and nutritional outcomes. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various stakeholders, including local authorities, communities, and partner organizations, to achieve the desired impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the position include providing specialized technical guidance for the design, implementation, and monitoring of livelihood-focused projects; coordinating the planning, execution, and follow-up of livelihood projects in the Riohacha Area Office; leading the livelihood team to ensure efficient and timely implementation; monitoring budget execution and resource allocation; supervising the management of beneficiary information and reporting indicators; preparing technical and narrative reports for WFP and donors; ensuring quality management of monitoring findings and community feedback; designing participatory methodological tools for capacity development; supporting affirmative actions for equitable access to decision-making spaces; facilitating capacity strengthening processes for WFP staff and partners; coordinating field visits and technical missions; integrating gender, protection, and cultural relevance into all project phases; and supporting other program-related tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications for this position include the completion of secondary education, with a desirable professional degree in agricultural sciences, biology, environmental engineering, economics, or related fields. Candidates should possess a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in the implementation and monitoring of development projects, including at least 2 years of experience in strengthening agricultural livelihoods with small producers, indigenous communities, or vulnerable populations. Knowledge in knowledge management, documentation of best practices, and database management is also required. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in fields relevant to the position such as agricultural sciences, biology, environmental engineering, or economics. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the projects and the communities served by WFP.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in development project implementation and monitoring, with at least 2 years specifically focused on agricultural livelihoods. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including smallholder farmers, indigenous communities, and victims of violence, is highly valued. Familiarity with knowledge management processes and the ability to document and share best practices are also important aspects of the required experience.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with local communities. Basic knowledge of English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international stakeholders.
