Job Overview:
The National Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the development of gender-responsive early recovery systems in Bangladesh. Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. They should have proven experience in developing gender-responsive policies or frameworks, particularly in the context of disaster recovery and resilience-building. Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of Bangladesh and previous work with UN agencies or similar organizations will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Relevant certifications or training in gender analysis, disaster risk reduction, or recovery planning will also be advantageous.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in gender analysis, disaster recovery, or resilience-building initiatives. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record in developing frameworks or policies that address gender issues in recovery settings will be essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages will be considered a significant advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 40 days. The consultant will be expected to work full-time during the assignment period. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
