National Consultant - Crisis Preparedness and Response Coordination

Job Overview:
The National Consultant for Crisis Preparedness and Response Coordination will play a crucial role in enhancing the capacity of local and national stakeholders to prepare for and respond to crises effectively. This position involves coordinating efforts among various agencies and organizations to ensure a cohesive response to emergencies. The consultant will be expected to analyze existing crisis response frameworks, identify gaps, and propose actionable strategies to improve preparedness and response mechanisms. The role requires a deep understanding of crisis management, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. The consultant will also be responsible for developing training materials and conducting workshops to build the capacity of local partners in crisis response.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current crisis preparedness and response strategies in Bangladesh.
• Identify key stakeholders involved in crisis management and establish communication channels among them.
• Develop a detailed action plan for enhancing crisis response coordination, including timelines and responsible parties.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for local and national stakeholders to improve their crisis management skills.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports to UNDP and other relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with UNDP and other agencies to align crisis response efforts with national and international standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to local authorities during crisis situations as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in crisis management, emergency response, or related fields.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex situations quickly.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operations, as well as knowledge of the local context in Bangladesh.
• Proficiency in project management and the ability to develop and implement action plans.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, International Relations, Disaster Management, or a related discipline is required. Additional certifications in crisis management or emergency response will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in crisis preparedness and response coordination, with a demonstrated track record of successful project implementation in similar roles. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in Bangladesh or similar contexts is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Bengali or other local languages is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders.

• This is a consultancy role, and the consultant will be expected to work on a full-time basis during the assignment period. The position may involve travel within Bangladesh, depending on the needs of the assignment. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's consultancy rates.
