Job Overview:
The MHT Health Personnel / Psychologist position involves providing individual, family, and group psychological support to individuals affected by the earthquake, in accordance with IOM protocols and guidelines. The role requires the application of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and other evidence-based brief interventions for individuals affected by the emergency. The psychologist will be responsible for identifying signs and symptoms of common mental disorders, acute stress reactions, anxiety, depression, grief, and other priority mental health conditions, ensuring timely referral of cases requiring specialized attention. The psychologist will participate in rapid assessments of mental health needs and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support in affected communities, health facilities, temporary camps, shelters, and other spaces where affected populations are located. The role also includes implementing community activities for psychosocial support, emotional well-being, resilience, social cohesion, and early recovery for communities affected by the seismic event. The psychologist will design and facilitate group sessions, psychoeducational activities, emotional support spaces, and psychosocial well-being promotion activities tailored to different population groups. Coordination with the Social Worker of the Mobile Psychosocial Team is essential for identifying needs, managing cases comprehensively, and developing person-centered care plans. Active participation in case analysis meetings, joint planning, and interdisciplinary follow-up with the Social Worker and other members of the Mobile Psychosocial Team is expected. The psychologist will also coordinate referral processes for individuals with mental health needs, protection, social assistance, or other specialized services, and identify individuals at risk of protection issues, gender-based violence, sexual violence, child protection, or other vulnerabilities, activating the corresponding institutional pathways in coordination with the social worker and protection teams. The role includes supporting the periodic updating of mental health service mapping, psychosocial support, protection, and other specialized services available in intervention areas, contributing to community awareness activities related to emotional well-being, healthy coping, self-care, strengthening support networks, and access to services. The psychologist will support training and orientation processes for community promoters, health personnel, and other local actors on Psychological First Aid, emotional well-being, early detection of psychosocial needs, and referral mechanisms. Timely recording of activities performed and information of individuals attended using institutional tools defined by IOM, ensuring confidentiality of information, is also required. Participation in coordination, planning, monitoring, and learning meetings of the Mobile Psychosocial Team and emergency response is expected, along with contributing to periodic reports on activities performed, needs identified, trends observed, and results achieved by the Mobile Psychosocial Team. Promoting self-care, healthy stress management, and emotional well-being practices among the individuals served and affected communities is essential, as well as respecting and applying humanitarian principles, do no harm, confidentiality, protection, and professional ethics established by IOM. The psychologist may also be required to perform other related tasks necessary to achieve the objectives of the emergency response.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: A university degree in Psychology from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or a secondary education diploma (high school), with four years of relevant professional experience.
• Required documentation: Submission of a copy of the Psychology degree, as well as registration with the Federation of Psychologists of Venezuela and the clearance from the College of Psychologists of the state where the candidate will practice.
• Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Psychology from an accredited academic institution is required. Alternatively, a secondary education diploma (high school) is acceptable if accompanied by four years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must provide a copy of their Psychology degree, registration with the Federation of Psychologists of Venezuela, and clearance from the College of Psychologists in the state where they will practice. The accredited universities must be recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Mandatory previous experience in SMAPS approach, community work, and team coordination is required. Experience in emergency response, community health, and mobile health work that integrates protection approaches in urban and/or rural areas will be positively valued. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of humanitarian action principles and emergency response coordination.

Languages:
All IOM staff, across all categories, must be fluent in at least one of the official IOM languages (English, French, or Spanish). For this position, fluency in Spanish (oral and written) is required. Practical knowledge of English is desirable. Proficiency in the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written tests and/or oral assessments.
