Job Overview:
The position of Finance Analyst is a critical role within the UNDP framework, aimed at providing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and support to various projects and initiatives. The Finance Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that financial resources are managed efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of UNDP's mission in Pakistan. This role requires a deep understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, and reporting, as well as the ability to analyze financial data to inform decision-making processes. The Finance Analyst will work closely with project teams to develop financial plans, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with UNDP's financial regulations and policies. The position is designed for Pakistan Nationals only, emphasizing the importance of local expertise in addressing the unique challenges faced by the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support project implementation and decision-making.
  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with UNDP financial regulations and policies.
  • Provide financial advice and support to project managers and teams, helping them to understand financial implications and manage resources effectively.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in financial performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations as required.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for project staff in financial management and reporting.
  • Stay updated on financial regulations and best practices to ensure UNDP's financial management remains effective and compliant.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of financial management principles and practices, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of UNDP financial regulations and policies is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CPA or ACCA) is preferred and will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, particularly in the context of project finance and reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Urdu or other local languages is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an Individual Consultancy for a duration of 105 working days spread over 5 months. The role is full-time and requires the consultant to be based in Pakistan. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and the consultant will be expected to adhere to UNDP's policies and procedures throughout the contract duration.
